Remembering Brookside – Final Alabama Humanities Foundation Public Program

Brookside MultiCultural Roots

Brookside MultiCultural Roots

On Saturday November 7, 2009 Cawaco RC&D Council and the Alabama Humanities Foundation presented the last of three public programs on the Multicultural History of Brookside, Alabama.  As Hands On Birmingham, Samford University and Vestavia UMC worked on restoring the Cardiff Burrell-Country House next to the Brookside Community Center, inside attendees shared their stories.  The program attracted folks from Gardendale, Pelham, Brookside, Adamsville, Graysville and Brookside.  Descendents of the Burrell and Negron shared photos including a large portrait of the former owner of the Brookside History Museum House.

Thanks to the City of Brookside for sponsoring the events, Cawaco RC&D Council for pursuing the grants and Alabama Humanities Foundation for their support.
